Food Trip in Detroit

Tips, Trips, and Stories From My Worldly Travels

Traveling is a great way to experience the world. It’s also a great opportunity to learn about different cultures and try new foods. Detroit has a lot to offer in terms of food. One can find everything from burgers and pizza to exotic dishes that are not commonly found elsewhere. Detroit’s cuisine is diverse and rich with flavors worldwide, including their own local favorites. In addition, there are many places where one can enjoy delicious food at an affordable price.

Green Dot Stables – Even though Detroit’s not the first city that comes to mind when considering good restaurants, it still has many great places to eat. The most popular spot in Detroit might be Green Dot Stables – which serves everything from BBQ sandwiches and fried chicken waffles to grilled dishes like lamb chops with onions or ribeye steak topped with chimichurri sauce. It also offers vegan options (something you don’t often find in meat-centric Detroit), such as spicy black bean burgers or jerk tofu tacos served on corn tortillas.

Golden Grill – There are a lot of restaurants in Detroit that offer grilled dishes. Golden Grill is one and has been serving the community for over 40 years with its famous burgers. They have grills going all day long to ensure freshness and quality food. Golden Grill also offers other popular American dishes like chicken strips, ribs, onion rings, and appetizers, including mozzarella sticks or hot wings, which can be served with either BBQ sauce or a sweet & tangy buffalo sauce. This place is perfect for anyone looking to satisfy any barbecue craving!

Take a good taset of what little detroit has to offer

Joe Louis Arena – Another place worth checking out for sports and grilling enthusiasts; they offer more traditional fare at their concessions stand, including hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and salads.

Detroit BBQ Company – If you want a taste of Detroit with its pulled pork, beef brisket, ribs, chicken, and smoked sausage dishes, this is the place you should go.

The Lafayette Coney Island – It serves up some of the best coney dogs in town along with traditional diner fares like burgers and fries.

Eastern Market – Another food destination worth exploring for fresh produce and stalls that offer Mexican to African cuisine. This is a great spot that runs year-round on Saturdays and Sundays (open earlier during peak seasons). You can find fruit stands, fresh produce vendors offering some locally grown items, as well as farmers’ markets where they sell prepared foods such as seasonal vegetables like sweet potato fries or grilled eggplant sandwiches.

Zingerman’s Creamery – It has been recognized by Food & Wine magazine as one of “America’s Ten Best Ice Cream Shops,” boasting more than 20 flavors on any given day!

Detroit Vegan Soul – If you’re vegan, don’t worry because Detroit has a place for you.  Detroit Vegan Soul is located in Detroit, Michigan, and offers a vegan option for those who prefer not to eat meat. The delicious food is cooked with love by Mia as well as her family members from scratch daily. So if you’re hungry and want some soulful vegan eats, this place will give you the flavor that your mouth has been craving!

If you prefer food crawling and trying different restaurants at the same time instead of staying in one restaurant, I recommend grabbing burgers from Lily’s Kitchen or Downtown Louie’s Lounge to enjoy while walking around downtown on the Riverwalk. You should also stop by La Dolce Vita bakery for some delicious pastries of your choice!  I know it sounds cliché, but they have the best pistachio cannoli! It might be hard to decide what kind of flavors to pick since there are so many choices available but don’t worry because their staff members are patient and will help you find the best ones for your taste.

It is also highly recommended to go on a food tour with Urban Eats Tours because they will show you new and interesting restaurants that are not as touristy but have great food! They can accommodate any dietary needs, so don’t worry about being allergic or vegan. There’s always something for everyone!  Many places give discounts for people who go on tours, so make sure to ask them about it before heading off.

If you want to camp out and cook some food, there are some camping grounds in Detroit where you can do this. One of the most popular is the Belle Isle campground if you want to stay in Detroit. You can bring your own griller that is perfect for tailgating and is easy to carry and cannot occupy much space in your car.  You can buy some meat and different kinds of seafood first in Detroit’s markets before you start the grilling. This is also perfect as a gift for your loved ones who both love traveling and grilled dishes. Just make sure you don’t forget to bring what you need.
